You’d think that makeup is my true obsession, but actually I’m more into skincare. What can I say, without a good skin the makeup just doesn’t sit so well. Skincare is something that I think is worth to invest in. If you invest into your skin you’ll need to use less makeup and therefore invest less on makeup.
Acid exfoliators are something that I’ve been interested for over a year now. Recently cultbeauty.co.uk and lookfantastic.com had really good offers on Alpha-H and Pether Thomas Roth products. Obviously I took the opportunity and ordered myself a Peter Thomas Roth Pumpkin Enzyme Mask ( 150ml ), Alpha-H Liquid Gold duo, Alpha-H Daily Essential Moisturizer SPF50+ and a Alpha-H Lip Perfector.
It contains pumpkin enzymes to ‘digest’ dulling dead surface skin cells, alongside alpha hydroxy acids that peel the skin and encourage it to repair and renew itself. Aluminium oxide crystals polish dulled skin to perfection; stimulate circulation and purify pores to leave your complexion looking flawless with a luminous glow and velveteen softness. The mask has a sweet, warming cinnamon-spiced pumpkin pie scent. It’s ideal to use whenever your skin’s a bit ‘meh’ – when make up sits strangely, or things look a little flaky and uneven.
Just apply a thin layer of this to clean skin, massaging gently with dampened fingertips before leaving it for 3–7 minutes. After a minute the skin starts to feel warm and tingly. But the massaging helps to reduce it. After rinsing it off the skin can be a bit red, but it subsided after a few minutes and the skin feels great. It’s recommended to use 1-2 times per week to maintain skin’s optimal lustre.
I’m so glad I did purchase it because it really, really, is all kinds of awesome. My skin has gotten way better and has a glow to it. The texture is smooth and makeup sits well on it again, skincare just sinks in and it has made my life much easier.
Continuing on glycolic acid treatments I also purchased the well-known Liquid Gold by Alpha-H. Compared to Peter Thomas Roth mask, it’s an overnight treatment. And I must emphasize that it is a treatment not a toner!
Alpha hydroxy acids exfoliating properties melt the ‘glue’ that binds dulling dead cells to skin’s surface, revealing the healthy ‘new’ skin cells beneath. It lowers skin’s pH (from 5.5 to around 3), stimulates cellular activity – accelerating repair and renewal processes, as skin works hard to re-establish equilibrium. The resurfacing action helps to diminish visibility of acne scars, dark spots and brown patches, so your complexion quickly looks more even-toned and luminous. It is a must-have for anyone concerned with skin ageing, sun damage or problem skin conditions.
Apply it with a cotton pad to cleansed face, neck and décolletage, avoiding the eye and lip areas. You will experience a tingling sensation, but not as bad as like Clinique Step 2 Clarifying Lotion. That toner stings, Alpha-H Liquid Gold is nothing compared to it. Use it 2-3 week while skin acclimatises – then build up to 3 ‘neat’ applications a week, for maximum anti-ageing and skin-brightening benefit. It’s said to not to follow with a night cream for the best results, allowing the Liquid Gold to work “uninterrupted”. It’s important to use a SPF with it as AHA products can increase your sensitivity to the sun by as much as 50%.
I was really surprised because I used it for a week and I could clearly see the difference in my skin. What really amazed me was that “the crow’s feet wrinkles” around my eyes disappeared almost entirely. I can apply my highlighter now higher without worrying that it emphasizes my “wrinkles”. My skin looks better and glowier.
As it’s important to use SPF with all of those AHA products and as I’m pale as hell I picked up the Alpha-H Daily moisturised SPF50+ and a lip balm which also has a UV filters. Honestly I think that it’s compulsory to use SPF30+ in the summer regardless of your skin tone. Skin cancer is so common nowadays and we need to protect our self from it.
Alpha-H Daily Essential Moisturizer has a broad-spectrum SPF50+ which protects against harsh UVA/UVB rays and future proofs against photo ageing. It is non-greasy and non-whitening and leaves a matte finish to the skin. It nourishes and hydrates the skin while fighting environmental aggressors. It was important to me that the cream sinks in quickly and doesn’t leave a heavy sticky feeling to the skin. And that’s exactly what this cream does. It is lightweight and provides a good base for makeup. It’s a 3in1 cream – moisturizer, sun protector and a makeup primer.
I also picked up Alpha-H Absolute Lip Perfector with it. It’s a peppermint-infused lip balm with UV filters to prevent dryness and ward against sun damage. It provides waterproof, broad-spectrum sun protection, while nourishing lips with extracts, vitamin E, aloe vera and antibacterial honeycomb extract. The Absolute Lip Perfector conditions lips and prevents chapping – protecting, plumping and line-lessening with each refreshing application. It’s really nice thick lip balm and I like the peppermint in it as it naturally plumps the lips.
Have you tried any of the Alpha H or Pether Thomas Roth range? What did you think?
