I love a new season beauty haul – changing out my winter wonders for fresher picks and introducing a few new releases in to my stash. I did some shopping few weeks back, also picked up some new bits from my recent trip to Copenhagen. Preparation for upcoming summer has started.
I obsessed about this eyeshadow quad a while ago and finally gave in. I had it in mind since November and obviously decided to buy it when it was sold out everywhere.Even when I managed to get my hands on it I wasn’t fully sure jet if I’m going to splurge on it. Magical words – this is the last one – sealed the deal.
The palette itself is great, buttery and super pigmented. The shades are truly unique – a light warm brown with a red undertone, a soft sandy beige, a warm terracotta, and a dark warm brown. All four shades are matte and easily blendable. It might seem at first that it’s not your everyday eyeshadow palette, but in reality all these shades are super wearable. Definitely something to pull out in the autumn-winter time, but why incorporate into your summer makeup bag as well?
Lancome Grandiose mascara has been around for a while now. I’ve aways been intrigued by its ‘swan neck’ wand, so I decided to try out their new Grandiose Extreme mascara. The reviews on the latest one have been great, I needed to test it out by myself.
Must admit that on the first week I hated it to guts. It was so clumpy and the wand constantly had too much product on it. I was super annoyed about it and cursed every time using it. I thought that it will never get better and it is as horrible experience as last year with the Better Than Sex mascara by Too Faced.
But on the second week it settled down, the amount of product that came out was adequate and I finally started to love it. What I really like about it is the swan neck wand. Really, I haven’t had a day with it where I get mascara on my eyelids. It just makes the applying process so much easier and enjoyable. But would I recommend it? You’ll find out soon…
I thought it would be time to try out one of these coloured eyebrow gels. Just to find out if I can pull it off on a day when I wear minimal makeup. I stumbled upon an L’Oreal Paris Brow Artist Plumper and decided to pick it up.
What drew me towards it was the colour selection. Most of drugstore brow products have a warm undertone, which in my mind doesn’t go well with any type of brow. I’ve noticed it especially on products made to suit lighter hair, making brows literally seem like orange caterpillars. But there’s not such thing with this product. It claims to add extra volume to your eyebrows, but I haven’t noticed anything like that. Just an easy way to fix your eyebrow situation when you’re in a hurry.
Whenever I have the opportunity to travel outside of Estonia I go on a hunt for a new foundation. You might think why is it so? Well, I’m pale as paste in the winter time and finding a shade that matches me is a hell of a struggle. You’d think that we have the selection of brands that I can go to, and we do. But they don’t carry all the shade range here. Last foundation that I got shade matched to was Giorgio Armani Powder Fabric foundation. Which was great, only that the formula didn’t suit me at all.
Marc Jacob is one brand that I like to stick to, as their foundation shade range is wonderful. Plus their lightest shade, which seems like white paste, suits my complexion perfectly. Years ago I tried their Genius Gel foundation and I was really pleased with the shade match and overall it worked well for me. This time I decided to go with the Remarkable foundation as it’s on the full coverage spectrum and covers my acne perfectly. Still not 100% happy with it, but at least I don’t have to paint my neck to make me suit for the foundation.
Essie polishes are well-known for their longevity and great colour selection. Decided to hop on the bandwagon as I felt that it’s time to change my nail polish game. Honestly, I’ve been really crappy with my nail care for years. I’ve found formulas that are long-lasting, but usually haven’t been fond of the whole colour selection.
So in Copenhagen I decided to change it. Buy colours that I know I like and go for the formula that is bulletproof. I’m still in awe, Essie formula is just so good. Better than I thought. I guess I now need to throw all my other polishes out. Never have I ever had a nail polish that looked great even on the 7th day of wearing it.
It deserves its price tag, the colour selection is just breath-taking. Fairy tailor is my go-to nail polish for everyday wear, Couture curator is something I’m probably going to wear more in the summer time. Glad that I finally found my nude and peachy pink polishes! 🙂
Have you tried any of them?
