Homemade granola is a healthy, comforting, and delicious treat. Especially compared to most of the granolas in the store which are high in sugar and usually contain unhealthy fats and oils. Plus you can always change things up to your own likening and add in flavors that you love! Homemade granola is super easy, quick and allows you to control the quality of ingredients and the amount of sugar you put in.
I didn’t follow any recipes and I don’t think there is any right or a wrong way to do it. The basic ingredients are whole rolled oats, nuts, somekind of a sweetener – agave or maple syrup or honey, and somekind of a healthy cooking oil. As I said before – you can add any nuts and dried fruit to your own likening.
I mixed together rolled oats, walnuts, shredded coconut, peanuts, agave syrup, dried strawberries, dates, chia seeds, sesame seeds and coconut oil. The mixture should be sticky and messy. But be sure to mix it all through so there isn’t any chunks of oil left.
Preheat you oven to 150° C. Spread the mixture in a thin layer onto a baking sheet and bake for about 10 minutes, until the mixture is lightly toasted.
